Bio
Adriana was born in Bogotá, Colombia, in 1972 and moved to the United States in 1989. Her passion for photography and the physics of light and optics were ignited in high school.
In 1995 she received a B.S. in physics with a minor in Russian from the University of Arizona. She intensified her Russian language studies with an immersion at Saint Petersburg's State University in Russia. She moved back to Colombia in 1995 for an internship at the Institute of Applied Optics at the National University in Bogotá. As part of her unique interests she learned to make exhibition quality holograms of preColumbian relics from the National Gold Museum in Bogotá.
She returned to the U.S. and worked in laser research and development in Silicon Valley, from 1997 until 2001. Adriana then moved to Wisconsin, where she continued her work in laser research and simultaneously earned a Master's degree in Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
In 2003 she moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico and has since taken her lifelong passion for photography to a higher level. In 2010 she participated in “Natural Eye – The Winter Landscape” with Eddie Soloway at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops. Recently, she had a “One on One” photographic experience tutorial with Art Wolfe in West Seattle. She is currently pursuing a photography degree at Santa Fe Community College. She is also a free lance portrait photographer.
Her photography transcends the ordinary and portrays a unique vision of the intuitive. Her emotionally charged images challenge the viewer to question their own perceptions and perhaps their own inner struggles.
